Under memorable autumn skies, the Vintage Chevrolet Association of Queensland made their way to Stanthorpe for the first time in 25 years last week.

Their schedule was filled with many memorable motoring moments, as the 53-vehicle contingent absorbed the view and local flavours - from the windy road around Storm King Dam, to the Lavender and Christmas farms, the local museum, Amiens Legacy Centre, Eastern Colour for strawberry picking - eventually dining at Killarney Pub and Granite Belt Brewery and even a decadent meal with Italian flavours at the International Club on April 19.

President Chris Mitchelson told The Town & Country Journal that "country hospitality was at its best" when among us, and the 107 members and companions who came from as far as Bundaberg enjoyed every day of their week-long stay.

The striking Chevrolet display hit a picturesque and historic high note on April 16 when set up beside Quart Pot Creek under glorious sunshine, a contrast to last weekend's grey skies.

"Last time we were here, most of our members were working so it was across the Easter four days," the Brisbane president said. "Then it was much more casual. Now the venues are more sophisticated and the whole experience went off without a hitch ... (and) we were very fortunate with the weather."
