Two street brawls in a matter of days have rattled suburban Warwick.

A quiet Saturday afternoon ended in a street brawl on one street, and a peaceful weekday night erupted in a chaotic siege of another home later in the week.

In the first incident, Tyrell Street in Warwick was thrown into turmoil on Saturday afternoon after a fight involving a group of men resulted in several arrests and one person being taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1pm on May 2 following reports of a disturbance. Police arrived to find a physical altercation underway, with the usually quiet residential area briefly becoming the focus of a police response as officers intervened.

An 18-year-old Maryborough man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Warwick Hospital for treatment.

After investigating the incident, police charged three Warwick men, aged 19, 20 and 25, with affray. They are scheduled to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on May 25.

The second incident, which took place on 6 May, saw a longstanding dispute between families turn into a violent affray.

Police attended an address on Hudson Street just after midnight last Wednesday after receiving calls that a group of people were attempting to enter a property.

Police arrived to contain the scene which had woken neighbours. Residents told police that the residence came under attack and windows were smashed and doors broken open during the incident. A vehicle was also damaged.

Neighbours report that there was shouting and a loud melee with the group running away when police arrived and returning later.

QPS reports that weapons were found including at least one baseball bat and machetes. The occupants of the house were threatened with violence.

Warwick Police Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon told journalists that the activities of the assailants is unacceptable and would not be tolerated in Warwick.

“Members of the public should not be exposed to this level of violence”.

Formal charges have yet to be laid as police examine statements and images from the scene. There is questions whether this incident is linked to a similar altercation in Rose City Shopping Centre earlier in the week.
