Developments about the Star Liquor signage in Victoria Street, Stanthorpe continue to bubble along with Southern Downs Regional Council confirming that the company did not submit the appropriate applications for the colours used.
Those colours - including a "stark" red, as described by readers - might need a rethink, especially in the proximity to the heritage-listed building beside it.
"Council approved a development permit for a Material Change of Use at 140 High Street, Stanthorpe, subject to a number of conditions," a spokesperson from SDRC told us last week.
"These conditions required the building’s colours and materials to be consistent with the character of the area. Details of the proposed colours and materials for both the building and adjoining pavement were to be submitted to Council’s Planning Department for approval prior to the issue of any building development permit."
Council said that "no such submission was received".
"As a result, the building has not been constructed in accordance with the approved conditions," SDRC further confirmed. "(And) council will now undertake further investigations to determine compliance with the development approval."
